Optimar has signed three contracts with the Icelandic seafood company Samherji for deliveries to its land-based salmon initiative, Salmon Garden.
The agreements cover three key systems: a fully automated washing system, an ensilage solution for dead fish handling, and a complete slaughter line. Together, the contracts highlight Optimar’s role as a system integrator in aquaculture.
Salmon Garden is planned to reach an annual production capacity of up to 40,000 tonnes of salmon a year. The project represents a significant investment in sustainable, land-based aquaculture in Iceland.
ONE SUPPLIER – MULTIPLE INTEGRATED SYSTEMS
The first delivery includes an innovative, fully automated washing system for tanks and pipe infrastructure. This solution is designed to ensure efficient and controlled cleaning processes, reducing manual work and supporting high biosecurity standards.
The second contract covers a complete ensilage system for safe and compliant handling of dead fish, while the third contract includes a full stun and bleed system.
This provides Samherji with one supplier and one point of contact across farming and processing.
– These contracts demonstrate the breadth of what we can deliver within aquaculture. We are proud to support Samherji with integrated solutions that cover several critical parts of the value chain, says Espen Rørvik, Sales Manager in Optimar.
STRENGTHENING THE POSITION IN LAND-BASED AQUACULTURE
The collaboration builds on long-term dialogue and detailed planning between the companies. By securing these contracts, Optimar demonstrates its capability to deliver comprehensive, integrated solutions across multiple disciplines.
– This is only the beginning. The project is massive and we will continue our close collaboration with Samherji in the years to come, states Magne Bjørge, Sales Manager in Optimar.
